Many despise this act yet several national laws condole and allow it.

The truth is, there are many understandable reasons for the act. An example of one is when a lady who was raped and then is pregnant as a result of the attack decides to terminate the unborn child because of the way he/she was conceived. In such a situation the lady feels violated physically or emotionally.

Other common reasons for abortion are: I'm too young, I'm not ready financially, the father has abandoned his responsibility, I need to focus on my studies/career right now, what will people think of me, I might not survive the pregnancy, and so on.

The truth is no matter how painful or seemingly difficult the circumstances are abortion is always a selfish act, because ultimately the abortionist in question is terminating another life based on how he/she feels.
